As a society, we tend to canonise aged male writers as having ‘lived, got scars, and gained wisdom’. In fact we often photograph them with close up photos emphasising their aging. The reality for women is that we feel the subliminal pressure to disappear as soon as our first wrinkle shows. I’ve been writing songs since I was 13, and that force has remained. I just wasn’t sure if I should go back to the party for a while. This song is a narrative on my journey in music.
